I took extra pains with the details, as I fell in love with this sweet character kitten illustration, hand-cut from antique children’s book page. First, I loaded her basket with a few more tiny vintage flowers, put a tiny white daisy with in her paw, and dressed up her hat with teensy feather, lace and rhinestone decoration. I was so glad she could live on as an ornament, and it seemed to me that she needed an umbrella as delicate and sweet as she. This antique cone ornament, with the addition of it’s own handle made with the right diameter wire wrapped in silk ribbon, would do very well. The addition of more antique trimmings - lace netting ruffle, tiny pink tatted edging, a touch of gathered organza, silk tassel, tiny silver Dresden paper bump border, and silk cording attached to handle – create a Victorian parasol in miniature.
Lovingly handcrafted and signed by Gail Giaimo.
